Serenity House is about the dignity of life and a peaceful ending to a precious journey.

Serenity House is about the dignity of life and a peaceful ending to a precious journey.

Serenity House

End of life care is unfamiliar territory for most families. Formal hospice programs offer much support for families at this time; however they are unable to provide the 24-hour care of a family. A comfort care home is a residence where volunteers provide around the clock family type care. The person with a life limiting illness moves to the comfort care home as his or her life journey comes to a close.

Life is precious to the end, every moment counts.

our values

If you have ever known a loved one or friend who needed a place to peacefully end their days on earth, then you know there are very few options for someone without strong family support. A comfort care home is a beautiful and meaningful way for a community to care for its own families.

There is no place like home.

We believe that our community will continue to embrace and support our work as a worthwhile charitable endeavor. In the tradition of Mother Teresa, the Carolina Comfort Coalition is an organization of interested professional and lay people dedicated to serving the needs of people at the end of life.

Care of the dying is an act of mercy.

We are, with the help of community hospice agencies, a place of emotional, spiritual, and social support of the dying person and his or her loved ones. Our support services from the hospice agencies are designed to help achieve the highest quality of living throughout the dying process. We believe that every moment matters and strive to provide comfort and support while respecting the dignity of every human being.

Our community.

Our Partners.

We are proud to have the ongoing support of many terrific businesses, organizations, and churches throughout North Carolina. The following is a listing of those that partner with Carolina Comfort Coalition to ensure the provision of services to those in need.

AS YOU EXPLORE NORTH SHORE, WE WANT YOU TO KNOW

Thanks to every member of the staff and crew of Serenity House during the stay of my mother, Mrs. Rachel Sherrill. Words cannot express how much we appreciate everything that you folks did for mom and for how much it eased our burden. We had no idea how tough the 5 week road would be during her final transition to eternal rest, but y’all made it so much easier. She truly seemed to be comfortable at Serenity House, and really “took” to everyone who had a part in her care. Thanks again, The Sherrill Family.

"She truly seemed to be comfortable at Serenity House, and really 'took' to everyone"

the Davis family

To everyone at Serenity House,
On behalf of my Mom, my family and I, we send heartfelt thanks to all of you. Thank you very much for caring for my Dad, even if it was for only a short time. The love and compassion you all showed is so overwhelming. God Bless each and everyone of you and all you do at the Serenity House.

"The love and compassion you all showed is so overwhelming.."

letter from lisa

“I had the privilege of working at Serenity House from October 2007 to June 2008. I loved volunteering there and I learned so much about the journey a dying person and their family might take.
I discovered that death was not something to be feared; rather it is a process, like birth, that can sometimes be difficult, but results in a kind of peacefulness. In 2011, I took care of Ruby ( my mother in law ) with help from hospice. I made sure she had the best care, just like I was taught at Serenity House.
We commend your wonderful program and its manifestation of comfort and love to all of the families whose lives you touch. You truly make a difference.”

"I discovered that death was not something to be feared."
