We believe dying to be a sacred family event rather than just a physical process.
Story telling is an essential part of the family journey through grief and loss.

Today was the one year anniversary of Reggie Stroud’s passing. His Mother requested I bring her by the Serenity House to visit with the Volunteers and to see his Memory Brick. We enjoyed our visit with Cheryl while there today!! Thank you to all Volunteers that cared for Reggie during his last few weeks. You became friends and family to all of us….but most importantly….to Reggie! Because of the loving home environment and the excellent support, emotionally, spiritually and physically….Reggie was able to pass peacefully. That means so much!!! I now volunteer at the Serenity House in hopes of providing that same peace and comfort for terminally ill individuals as well as for their friends and families. May God bless you all!!!!
Thanks to every member of the staff and crew of Serenity House during the stay of my mother, Mrs. Rachel Sherrill. Words cannot express how much we appreciate everything that you folks did for mom and for how much it eased our burden. We had no idea how tough the 5 week road would be during her final transition to eternal rest, but y’all made it so much easier. She truly seemed to be comfortable at Serenity House, and really “took” to everyone who had a part in her care. Thanks again, The Sherrill Family.
To everyone at Serenity House,
On behalf of my Mom, my family and I, we send heartfelt thanks to all of you. Thank you very much for caring for my Dad, even if it was for only a short time. The love and compassion you all showed is so overwhelming. God Bless each and everyone of you and all you do at the Serenity House.
The Davis Family
I learned from one of my colleagues, that your organization did a wonderful job during his father-in-law’s final days. I wanted to give this gift in his father’s name. I hope this donation is the first of many you receive for the good work you do. Thank you and God Bless you,
Letter from Lisa
“I had the privilege of working at Serenity House from October 2007 to June 2008. I loved volunteering there and I learned so much about the journey a dying person and their family might take.
I discovered that death was not something to be feared; rather it is a process, like birth, that can sometimes be difficult, but results in a kind of peacefulness. In 2011, I took care of Ruby ( my mother in law ) with help from hospice. I made sure she had the best care, just like I was taught at Serenity House.
We commend your wonderful program and its manifestation of comfort and love to all of the families whose lives you touch. You truly make a difference.”
